My First Day

Posted: March 31, 2010 in Uncategorized

I realized i need to start one day early, because i am leaving town on April 30th for Boston, so in order for me to get in a solid 30 days in a row, i need to get going on March 31st!

This morning i took a 90-minute yoga class after eating a decent breakfast of 1 egg, 1 slice of toast no butter, 1/2 grapefruit and a small french press of Caffe D’arte, the best coffee in Seattle!

This evening I took on the kettlebells.  I have just two, the yellow and green.  The yellow is 8KG (17.6 pounds) and the green is 12KG (26.5 pounds).  I also have a small blue weight that is 9 pounds, and I usually only use this for the windmills and sometimes getups.

So here’s my workout:

Warm up:
25 reps of the two-handed swing/Green kettlebell
10reps right/20 reps left of the single handed swing (Green).  (I’m working on improving my strength in my left arm, so I’m doubling it up on the left side for awhile).

Windmills: 9 reps each side.  (Yellow kettlebell on the floor and 9lb. blue overhead)

Figure 8’s: (Green) 25 reps with side lunges/each direction

Around the World: (Green) 20 reps/each direction

Get-up/Stand-up: (Yellow) 4 reps/each side

Get-up/Side lift-up/hold: (Yellow) 4 reps/side

Two handed Release: (Green) 10 reps

Cool down: Two-Handed Release: (Yellow) 20 reps

I had a yummy dinner of whole wheat pasta and tuna… but I might have blown it with the aioli sauce that accompanied my after-workout snack of a steamed artichoke!

Hi!  My name is Kate and I’m on a Kettlebell mission!  I’ve set a goal for myself of working out with Kettlebells for 30 minutes a day for the next 30 days.   It is my intention to bring on the sweat storm!  But before I say anything else, I want you to know that I LOVE Kettlebells!  The only reason I decided to call my blog “Kettlebell Hell” is because I have a feeling that after blogging about Kettlebells for four weeks in a row, my family might possibly feel  like they are in Kettlebell Hell!  And by April 30th, I fully expect to be in Kettlebell Hell myself.  But I also expect to be stronger and more fit than ever before.  My hope is that by blogging about it every day, it will keep me honest in my endeavors.

Let’s rock this thing…

Peace out, till tomorrow.
